Scott Waites
Scott is 29 years old and lives in Halifax with partner Sally and Michael. He throws a 23gram dart and is currently in the ‘A’ team and has been the men’s captain for the last 2 years.
Scott started playing darts at the age of 16 in the local pub. He joined Yorkshire youth at the age of 19 which he played until he was 21 during this time he won every game as Man of the match except for 1.  His first major competition was British teenage open in which he got to the last 16 and won a set of darts and a watch.  Scott plays local league and super league and was selected for Yorkshire in 2001. He was selected to play for England in 2006.
Scott has now got a sponsor (Dale Everett-Tridale Windows) which has enabled him to do the competition circuit in the hope of collecting enough points to qualify for the world championship, unfortunately this has a down side in so much as he is never at home which is frustrating for Sally. Scott’s ambition is to get to Lakeside and win the world championship.
His high point in darts was playing for England, but he also ranks this as a low point because of the nerves he experienced whilst playing.
When asked for personnel comments about darts he said ’If you want to achieve your ambition, you can if you keep going. It has taken me 13 years to win my first major competition (Dutch Open) but it proves that with commitment and dedication it can be done’
My thoughts on Scott are that he is a natural dart player and will one day achieve his ambition.
