Player Profile:
Sara Mortimer
Sara is 28 years old, single and lives in Doncaster where she works in Admin at the Royal Mail. She started playing darts at the age of 15 due to her mum being short of a player in a 3-a-side match. She then joined Yorkshire youth which she played for 6 years. At the age of 18 Sara played for Derbyshire as she was located in Nottingham whilst at university. She got her Yorkshire call up at the age of 21 and after being initially sat out for her first season she has since played in both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ team for the last 6 years. She currently plays local league, superleague, county and UK Competitions. Her high point in darts was when she played for Yorkshire youth she was a guest youth player at the end of season roses match which she won with a 24 ave. Her low point has been getting to the Winmau play-off 2 years on the trot but just can never get that last game to qualify. Sara’s ambition is to play in the World Masters and Gold Cup individuals. For a personal comment Sara said “Always remember darts is a game and should be played for it’s enjoyment” She also said that her Mother has always encouraged, supported and mentored her, but Sara claims that when Pat was playing well during her pregnancy it was her Natural talent that was coming out. My comments on Sara is that she is a very likable person who has been dedicated to the sport of darts for the last 13 years and I am sure that one day she will get the break that she deserves.
