PLAYER PROFILE  Mick Ridge

Mick is 43 years old and lives in Sheffield with wife Jacqui. He has 2 sons, Thomas and Simon and a daughter, Claire. His occupation is a printer.
He started paying darts at home at the age of 13.  At the age of 16 his father started taking him to the pub and he joined league after he found he could beat all the players in the pub. He currently plays local league, super league and county, but only does local competitions.  He got his county call up in 2003 which he names as his high point in the sport.  His low point was in 2007/8 season when he packed in playing at all levels because he was playing badly.  He started playing again this season because he was missing all his mates.
Mick’s ambition is to become more consistent and get back to playing regular ‘A’ team, also to play for England and one day make it to Lakeside, but he says ‘One day at a time’  His personal comment on darts was that he just enjoys the game and has no qualms with any of the governing bodies. Since playing county he has made many friends but no enemies.
My comments on Mick are that he must be the most unlucky man when it comes to the county draw as he is nearly always drawn out last, but just takes it all in his stride and gets on with the job of winning.
