Louise Simmonds
Louise, who is 35 years old lives in Bradford with husband Chris and children Nathan and Chelsea. She is a self employed Nail technician and also designs and sells cards (she’s a very arty person).
Louise who is better known to most as Lou, started playing darts at the age of 14 in the pub with her grandma.  At the age of 16 she started playing for her mum’s team in the local ladies league.  It was during her 20’s that she started to play superleague, however she then stopped playing for a couple of years after having a bad knock to her confidence.   Lou started playing again about 5 years ago and has gone from strength  to strength and now plays  5 nights a week in both ladies leagues and mixed leagues she also plays superleague for both  Yorkshire and Lancashire and does a lot of the competition circuit. It was 3 years ago that she got selected for Yorkshire and is currently an ‘A’ team player, though she was initially asked to play for Lancashire but turned this down in favour of her own county. Lou’s  high point in darts came last year when she won the Gibraltar open and was runner up in the Torremolinos open. Her low point was being dropped to the ‘B’ team earlier this season, but she has now fought her way back into the ‘A’ When asked if she had any personnel comments she just said “ I have persevered and worked my game up though my confidence has been knocked many times but I now feel that I am a force to be reckoned with”. Her ambition now is to defend her Gib’ title and to play for England. (we will find out how she does in Gib’ next month). As for my comments, well I have know Lou since she was 16 and would like to think that I have played an instrumental part in her success by dragging her around tournaments and introducing her to different leagues. She is a very determined player, who is not afraid of saying what she thinks. I wish her all the best in achieving her ambitions and if she does, I for one will be very proud.
