Player profile: Janice Lambert

Janice is 55 years old and lives in Lancaster, where she works as a Sheltered Housing manager.  She is married to Paul and has 2 daughters, Sharon and Jackie. She also has 2 grandchildren.
Janice plays local league, superleague in both Lancashire and Yorkshire as well as County, she also practices everyday.  She started playing darts at the age of 12 in the Royal Shepard pub in Skipton where her father was landlord. She stopped playing for 20 years then started again in 1990 in the Lancashire local league and super league.  She then moved back to Skipton and joined Yorkshire superleague in 1994.  She was selected to play for Yorkshire in 1995 and currently plays in the ‘A’ team. Janice has also over the past years been a Yorkshire committee member, but gave it up to concentrate on her darts.
Her high point in Darts was her Yorkshire selection. Her low point was when she played her first county game because despite scoring 140’s and tons she still lost.
When I asked for a personal comment she said ‘ There’s a lot more to darts than players realise, having served on the committee I have seen both sides, also most darts people become friends for life’
My comments on Janice are that she is truly a genuine caring person, but has a very scatterbrained entertaining side to her personality which keeps us all well entertained and sometimes in hysterics.  I will share a couple of these events with you all; It was reported in one of the Sunday newspapers that an Asteroid had landed on earth, Janice’s interpretation of this was to tell us all that a steroid had landed on earth. In another instance having just travelled down the M62 in an extreme downpour, Janice went on to inform us how there was that much water, that they had nearly been abseiling down the M62, she really meant aquaplaning. Bless you Janice may you never change.
