Players profile Dee Bateman
Dee is 35 years old (or at least that’s what she says) and now lives in Barrow in Furness but was born in Crofton, Wakefield which makes her a Yorkshire lass through and through. She quotes her occupation as a housekeeper to a VIP celeb, partner Rab Butler (he has only just risen to this status since the sad loss of the former owner, Tutts) Dee started playing darts at the age of 16 in the local league and now plays local league, superleague, county and also does the competition circuit. Titles she has won include Scottish Open, England Open, British Classic x 2, Norway Open and most recent the Belgium Open.
Her high point in darts was qualifying for Lakeside in 2007 but it also turned out to be her low point when she felt that she did not play to her potential.
When I asked for a comment on darts she said, “ I think ladies darts should get a lot more recognition and the prize funds should be revised to reflect the talent and ability that now exists in present day players” then she gave me a personal comment which was “ I taught Rab everything he knows and also It’s important to be loved but more important to love someone and Rab now comes a very close second to Bugsy”
My comment on Dee is that she is not only an extremely dedicated player who deserves all the success that she has achieved, but also is a good friend to me and does my confidence a world of good. I also know that she would love to play for England in order to achieve her mum’s wish and I am sure that one day she will achieve this as she most certainly has the ability.
