Player Profile Ann Waslin
Ann is 40 years old and lives in Hull with her 3 children, Emma, Adam and Luke where she works as a child minder.
She started playing darts at the age of 17 with her dad in the local pub. She joined the local league at the age of 27. In 2003 she joined Humberside County after winning several local comps. She then started doing the competition circuit both home and abroad. In 2008 she joined Yorkshire superleague for Ryhil and then transferred from Humberside to Yorkshire in the 2008/9 season.
Her high point in darts was getting to the final of the Swiss open pair with Karina Edbergh in 2007.
She states her low point was loosing in the superleague champion of champions cup to Olive Byamukama.
Her ultimate ambition is to play for England but also to just keep enjoying playing.
For a personal comment on the sport Ann said “After beating 10 men for the right to play against Eric Bristow, I feel that his comments were very derogatory towards me when he thanked the organisers for allowing me to play against him, rather than acknowledging that I had won the right to play” she would therefore like her personal comment to be that Eric respect women more. (this happened in 2000 which was 3 years before she even played county)
My comments on Ann are that she is lovely girl who has fitted in well with the Yorkshire lasses, although sometimes quiet and tends to keep a low profile. She can certainly find her way round the dartboard (as I have found out to my peril) and I think we haven’t seen the best of her yet, she just needs to build on her stage game.
